The launch of the new Health and Wellness Center will bring a first time opportunity for Auburn University.

Hashtags have stayed a hot topic in the tech scene since their beginning in IRC (internet relay chats). With the recent release of Facebook hashtags, it seems that they are taking over the social media world. Almost all social media platforms readily use them, namely Instagram. Remember when the pound side just meant number… yeah, I know, vaguely.

Summer has a different definition for everyone, but for most people summer is the happiest season of the year. Summer is a time for family, a time for fun and time for travel. Whether it’s round-the-world excursions or just exploring your own city, the smart phone has evolved the ease and access of travel.

Tomorrow is National Waffle Iron Day and, although not a widely recognized holiday, the VPM team and I will take basically any excuse to consume food… so we moseyed on over to celebrate at the local Waffle House. We were, of course, welcomed with their typical greeting, “Welcome to Waffle House!”. After sitting for less than a minute, we all, not surprisingly, knew what we wanted to order.

After the announcement of Google Glass, attention has been given to the upcoming craze of wearable devices. It’s not hard to see the relevance of these upcoming products and how they are going to play into our market. Although wearable devices are a relatively new technology, they are definitely not a new concept.

As humans we struggle with keeping our motivation up and attitudes positive. The population seems to drudge through days and take the experience of life for granted. All right music fanatics, there is only one week away from the ever infamous Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. I’ve already seen copious amounts of posts from fans brimming and bursting with excitement. I won’t be attending Bonnaroo 2013 due to work conflicts, and I’m bitter, but I’ve been an avid rooer in the past.

Last week an estimated 9.7 million viewers tuned in to watch the 2013 Billboard Music Awards. Although more than 20 awards were given, certain artists seemed to sweep the trophy table. Taylor Swift took home eight categories, Rihanna won four and my girl, Nicki Minaj, took home three awards. Although these artists obviously make melodious music, the Billboards are voted on primarily by the fans.

Great stories, such as The Great Gatsby, cause us, as the audience to develop a connection with the dynamic characters. For instance, we want to know what Jay Gatsby would do on a Friday night in Auburn or what Daisy Buchanan would think about our new, favorite dress. As we rationalize what decisions these characters would make in our world, we must also wonder how they would level up in our digital workplace.

Outdoor Adventure Club is one of Auburn University’s best-kept secrets and has recently gained the campus’s attention. The club once felt imaginary and illusive to Auburn’s campus, most students had heard of it, but never actually seen members in action. The last few years on campus, however, the club has gained attention and obtained more than 400 members.
